"Gorgeous...." a page for Colour Blast.

Hi everyone and a happy belated New year!
Apologies for not being around but I was having a wonderful fun filled summer!
So I now have to face up to all the catching up I have to do.....and the washing!!!
So over the next week or so I am going to catch up on my projects that have not reached this little old blog. First up here is a layout and tutorial I did for Colour Blast late last year...I think...LOL!

The LO features one of my gorgeous nieces that live a long way away in the States.
I love getting their photos, it is a chance for me to get a girlie fix, not that this page is very girlie really you could do the same for a masculine page too.
So here is the page:

And now a few step by step pics to show how I created it:

I drew roughly where I wanted to place the ball flower thingies...lets call them blooms form now on.
I tore up old book paper and glued the pieces down with Gel Medium as a start to my Blooms.

Once dry I added some Glass bead Gel to create some texture.
I then chose my colour scheme and gathered supplies....time to get splashy with colour!
I splattered a few drops of Colour Shimmer Spray in Bling first all over the page.

I sprinkled Colour Mica Powder: Lemon Zing and Colour Shimmer Dust: SunflowerAmber & Lollipop on to the Blooms then added water with a brush moving the colour around into a ball shape.

I was not happy with the shapes they turned out a bit "Blobby" so I decided to use the sprayer out of the Colour Sprays:  Bubblegum as a "brush" and do some defining scratches to make the blobs look a little more organic and loose.

They ended up looking a little more like flowers, loved the scratchy bits.
Then I used the sprayer to splash more colour around the page.

I did a total of 3 Blooms (have to work with odd numbers for balance).

I felt they still needed some texture so I reached for the Colour Embossing Powder in Bling adding a few layers heating as I sprinkled.

I added some doodly lines to define the blooms with a Posca paint pen in Black.
I think I can call them done now!

Lastly I layered patterned paper around my photo, added the chipboard title that I painted black and lastly a few embossed chippy hearts done with the Bling Colour Embossing Powder to tie the composition together.

So the page is done, what do you think?

The blooms were once again an experiment but I do love a play and I think they turned out ok!

The close ups don't really show the blissful shimmer of all the powders and the shine of the embossing powder sorry you shall just have to believe me when I say it looks fab!!

Still a few more bits and pieces to show you all so I will be back in the next few days to do just that!
Thanks for visiting see you again soon!!

                  Catch up Art Journal Play!

                  Hello everyone!
Back with a quick share of a few pages of my art journal, I have so many bits and pieces to catch up on so I will make this post a quickie I promise!
First one is in my favourite black journal!

I had a play with my new Scrap FX paintbrush stencil, I had fab fun making them look all arty, messy and drippy!
After "tracing" through the stencil with a pencil, I used mostly water colours and pigment powders to get the colour onto the "Gessoed" page.

I outlined the brushes with my new favourite tool of all time...a Black Pico embellisher....just awesome!!!!! It will write on any surface and leaves a line that looks like it is embossed, how could you not love that???

I used more of the left over paint on the Scrap FX chipboard word, being careful not to put too much paint on the engraved plaque section as the lettering would be covered.

My next page is in my larger journal,
I used what I call a "Smashed" page (a page I use up all my left over paint and stencil paint on), so my background was basically done, I just added a few more layers!
Once again I used a stencil from Scrap FX, "Vogue Girl". I painted her face with white Gesso then
filled in details with that Black Pico Embellisher and watercolour crayons and pencils.

The saying is a stamp by Donna Downey.
I think I spy some Dina Wakley stencils in that background too.

The checkered pattern is a foam background stamp by Scrap FX, inked once but stamped several times, over the page.

That white writing at the bottom of the page is my white Pico Embellisher, just perfectly opaque, (whats not to love) you know how hard that is to find?

Lastly the flowers at the bottom of the page were created using Colour Blast Colour Paste in Bling through a stencil by Crafters Warehouse.
And that my friends is it for now, will be back shortly, I promise!
                  Till next time!
                  Cheers,
                  Michelle

Fun Scrap FX Projects for June

Hi everyone I am back to share 2 projects created for Scrap FX.
This month was an Arty Theme over at Scrap FX central, lots of art related chippies, words, stamps and a stencil.
So I had a play in my new Black Art Journal, it makes you think a little differently about colour etc but I just love the results!
                  Here is the page:

Don't you just adore that Wordlet?
I have just teated it with some Stampendous Embossing Enamel.

The chippy is called Paint Brush Flourish:
                  Paintbrush Flourish
I have painted it with Mica Paint then added some Embossing enamel as if the brushes were painting the Wordlet. I also added some clear diamond glaze to the ribbon as I thought it needed more dimension.

The background I just played around with various stamps and metallic paints and also some Colour Blast paste in Rose Petal.

I also used some Art Foamies in the background, they are the circles you see on the right hand side below. They are super fun to play with too, more on them a little later in the month!

The next project I went back to my normal journal, I obviously had circles on my mind!

I created the circles using Colour Blast like thick paint so the circles really have a wonderful texture.
The Pen Nib is part of the Art Pen Nib set, adorable aren't they?
                  Art Pen Nibs

The other new release I used are the #words, they are part of the #Happy Set:
                  #Happy

The butterfly is an older release called Flutterby M Fantasy (small), was a great fit for the nib!

All the chippies except for the pen nib, I embossed with Colour Blast Embossing powder in the colours Deep Water and Bling.

The pen nib is just painted using mica paints once again, so that the writing was not lost.

In the background I used a bunch of stuff, including stamps, pastes and stencils.

And that is it from me for the day, stay tuned for more fun in my Black journal, (I have become a little obsessed) and my new play thing Art Foamies!
                  Cheers!
