I Love Making Canvases Again!!!

After a bit of a spell, I have started making canvases again! I had a load of messy fun making these 3, using some of the latest releases by Scrap FX ands a load of paint, sprays and embossing powder..
On the middle canvas I used the new Chicken Wire Heart and the side ones I used the smaller Steampunk Heart.
Here they are raw:

And here are all three canvases together:

The middle one all done:

Then the 2 side ones with the smaller Heart:

All the backgrounds are the same technique using texture paste, tissue paper, a road map (yes it is there under all the layers) and paint in loads of lovely layers!

You can see the artificially aged corrugated cardboard here.
I added a rough uneven layer of embossing powder on the hearts, and mica paint and silks in layers of luscious colour, in the background chippies.

Added some mini swallows to the outside canvases as a point of difference (and because they just happened to be on my desk at the time).

Really enjoyed trying to make everything look old, rusty and coppery, it is not totally perfect, but hey any more layers and it would have just looked muddy!

Each canvas is different in its own way but somehow they do work together.
I was pleased with the result but these photos do not show the depth of colour as the light around here has not been too kind (where is Summer?)!!

I have some more ideas rolling around in my head for more off the page work, the latest Scrap FX releases really are inspiring!! Check them out here.
Thanks for stopping by everyone and hugs to all those that leave a little love I truly do appreciate that bit of time that you have taken!!!

A Bit of Art Journal Play today!

Ok, so I have not been doing too much lately, a super busy time of the year for all, but I did squeeze in a bit of journal fun! The beauty of the journal concept is that it is "PLAY" and something just develops as you throw stuff around.
My aim for this page was to get away from my usual colour scheme, I put all my "Go To" colours away and cleared my desk (this took a bit of time ARGHH!!!), I started totally fresh!
What sparked this little "fresh" frenzy??? Well a certain friend lined up all my projects over the last 6 months or so and it was a real eye opener to say the least!!! Green and blue are my comfort zone,   these colours feature heavily in my projects (as the evidence before me showed). It made me wonder if I could break away and create something I liked without green or blue anywhere in sight.
This page is the result:

I started by laying down some of the awesome red script Sawyers Place Washi tape, (that I have been bonding with for far too long) randomly around the page.
I used texture paste and an old Prima Stencil to create the damask background and once that was dry I also used the same stencil with gold paint to give the page dimension. Lindys' Stamp gang sprays were used over the top to bring it all together.

I stamped images with Stazon ink, and for the main message I wanted a clear image (very Hit or Miss with so much texture on the page) so I stamped the saying onto tissue paper then used gel medium to attach it to the page works a treat! Then Hey Presto my page was done....... and no green or blue hues to be seen!!! And I kind of like it!
So I guess my mission was accomplished!

"Scrapbook Creations First Inspiration Board"

Introducing the first ever mood board challenge at Scrapbook Creations!
Love these challenges and the different takes they inspire!
So why not have a go at this one and post it on the Scrapbook Creations Blog for the world to see?
2013-12_Dec
Here is my project, an Art journal page:
I got my hands on a very cool Unity art stamp set that I just had to use straight away!!!

Added loads of texture with molding paste, tissue paper and embossing powder!
Lots of shiny bits that did not show up too well in the photos but here are my efforts to show you some of the texture.

I stamped on to tissue paper in order for the stamped image to show over all the lumps and bumps I created.

The quotes were also part of the set, they just screamed to be included!

And lastly the embossing powder that no creation can do without!!

So why not give this a go yourself? So much fun to be had!!

Last Diva project: Off the page!

Hello one and all!
Back again with the last project of my Diva entry, and my favourite. Really like how quickly and easily this one came together. It is made from a Scrap FX Shadow box kit that are easy peesy to put together and because it comes in pieces you can decorate as you go so you can get to all the nooks and cranies! This piece has a Finnabair feel to it, just loved the workshop I did earlier this year with her, it really opened my eyes to so many more possibilities, for that I truly thank her!

Loads of Chippies here and metal bits and pieces too and you may even find a touch of lace as well.

The main character here is a Scrap FX steampunk owl that I added more gears to and the flourishes from his wings punch out so I used them for his "eyebrows" so cute!!

The words inside are little chippies that I painted to look like metal. The clustered corners are combinations of all the metal and chipboard bits and pieces I found in my stash.

I really threw a heap of paint and mist on this project really wanted it to be rich and shimmery. Then I highlighted with the rich gold so they would pop out so to speak!
So that was that little show and tell, the beginning of my Diva Journey!
Thanks everyone for taking the time to visit!!

Diva Project 2!

Time for reveal number 2, the second layout!
This one is of my eldest, Kodey:

Just love getting all grungy with the border punches around the edges of the page!
Used a bunch of stencils and stamps on the background with gesso, mists and sprays. Then clustered my chippies after hitting them with mica paints!

All the chippies are Scrap FX, used a lot of old favourites and just love that title!

When you add metal bits and pieces to chipboard it just .... well ....works!

And that is that, stay tuned for my final project for the Divas, an off the page creation!! Lots of fun doing that one!!

Design Diva!!!!

Hi All
Now that the news is well and truly out, that I have joined an overwhelmingly talented group of ladies as a Design Diva at Scrapbook Creations, over the next few days I thought I would show detailed shots of the projects that got me into this whirlwind of creativity!! (So to speak)

The first LO had to feature me...... made me a little uncomfortable to say the least:

As you can see I got down and dirty rather than deep and meaningful!!! Tried hard to hide the face .. LOL
To make the circles I used mist and home made stencils, (fancy name for a circle punched out of a scrap piece of cardboard) in varying sizes. Then I just doodled around them with my paint marker!

I used Scrap FX Paris Alphas for the title and threw some paint and ink on them. Trurhfully, I left this LO till the last minute, so had to really rush and get it done as the deadline loomed! As a result this is my least favourite of the 3 Diva entry projects.
I almost did not enter because of this requirement.... funny how little things really throw you, the photo of myself certainly did!!

Resorted to using old faithful embellishments, spinners and cogs, they just work for me, and paired with the scribble frame that I cut to fit it just suited the mess!

A few dimensional dots and words and I was closer to the finish line!

So that is the story of the first LO, it was definitely the toughest task!
Next I will show the "other" LO and then soon after the "off the page" task!
So do come by again soon,
hugs,
