Last Challenge for the Month!

Back again with another LO for a challenge over at Page Drafts
This time I just made it in time, so it was a little bit of a rush but it was fun. I onlyjust discovered the treasures of this site a couple of weeks ago, but I had to find time to participate .... their sketches are just awesome!!
Check out this super sketch (it is only one of many amazing sketches to be found on this site):

Now everyone knows I do not deal with pink too well, but something about this sketch caught my eye and got the creative juices flowing.  After looking over all my pages last year I am trying to break away from the Blues and greens that were (For me) very 2013! Cannot say I will never resort back to my favourite colour scheme, but am trying out a few varieties at least. So lets get on with it shall we?

The theme for the challenge was Valentines.... another topic I struggle with, it seems 2014 is the year of challenging myself!
I have used a photo of my better half in his happy place. Surfing makes him feel young again and now that the boys surf with him, he has an absolute ball!
Here are a few detail shots:

I am so in love with the Basic Grey Persimmon paper line, I have been hoarding it for a while so it was time to use it, love all the greys and neutral tones!

I have used Scrap FX Chevron stencil and scribble circle foam stamp, Gesso, ink, Graphic45 stamps and embossing powder on the background for my usual very messy look.

The chipboard scribble words make a great title with a little ink and embossing powder.

Love the look of random bits of embossing powder on the background.

Well that is about all from me for the month, see you next time and thanks so much if you leave a little love!!
I do appreciate that you have taken the time to comment!

Lindys Stamp Gang Colour Challenge

Yay another challenge done!
Everyone knows by now how much I love using Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays, so I thought giving their colour challenge a crack was next on my "to Do List".
Here is the gorgeous scheme:

I used these lovely sprays:

And this embossing powder:

I have created my own background using the sprays, a new foam stamp by Scrap FX, washi tape and texture paste with a little grunging up by a punch.

The chipboard hearts are Scrap FX and treated by gesso, embossing powder and the ink from the sprays.

Here is the full page, a photo of my Little Brother and my Sister in Law, love 'em to bits and miss them everyday as they live a world away in the States!

A few more details for you, the title I made up of Scrap FX chippy pieces from my stash:

So that is it from me, why not give this challenge a shot? It was great fun and got me out of my comfort zone......I used PINK!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by Y'all!

Scrap Friends February Sketch

Time for another Challenge!
This time the fun sketch challenge over at Scrap friends, so cute! I loved the hearts but found that a little soppy for my mood, so I decided upon arrows combined with an old photo of the boys and a cool quote from the stamp range of Kaiser Craft.
Here is the sketch and for once it is pretty obvious that I have used it!

And here is the page, had loads of fun with ink, sprays and did the background marbling with a little help from hubby's shaving foam.....as I said so much fun!!

I wanted a really bright effect so I used Dylusions sprays along side Lindy's Stamp Gang.

All the arrows are from a pack of Scrap FX box stars they are awesome and you get a bundle in the pack (always good to bunch together).

I treated all the chippies with embossing powder and then sprayed a little colour around and allowed it to pool.

Wow how cute were my boys they are so grown up.... into silly teens now.....hard to remember them at this age time sure does fly, feeling old!! I digress.... where was I????

Love this quote in the stamp line from Kaiser and have even used it on birthday cards I think the boys are so over it, but I persist.... that's a good thing right??
A few more details for you and I am done, I may be back with a mini tutorial if you all want to know how I did the marble effect, I made a heap of journal pages also while I had the foam out, it just kept evolving with each print......happy!

The Title is the Playground Alpha ( Scrap FX) treated the same way as the arrows.
And lastly a little look at the marbling of the background:

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

New LO for Sawyers Place

Hi All!
A quickie post from me today, just thought I would share a LO I did for Sawyers Place. Have you seen the latest addition to their range??? Epoxy and resin sticky shapes! They are super sticky even when applied to all sorts of mediums that I use on my pages. Once down, they do not move.....awesome!!

I have stamped words (with Stazon ink) onto card, then stuck the banner shapes over the top, cut around them with a knife and the job was done, easy!

I then stuck them down with tape.

Before I show the full page, I have to show the mess I made with the hot glue gun, to make the circles. I sprinkled micro beads all over the place and some even ended up on the page!!!! Obviously, I am yet to perfect the right method of adhearing the tiny suckers to a page, but I do like the texture they give so I will try and try again!

So here is the page featuring my youngest last summer doing what he loves!

As you can see I also used a wordlet from my stash of Scrap FX gear, I just painted and cut it to fit the page in a way I liked, then out came the good old embossing powder, just cannot live without the stuff right now!

Behind the photo I used a mixture of papers and stamps to add a bit of colour.

See my gluey globs? Gotta' find a better way!
Any ideas out there would love to know!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Summer has Arrived at Scrap FX!

Hello everyone!
Back again after a little break....been enjoying the sunshine far too much!
I have been Playing with "beach" themed products from  Scrap FX.

Enough prattle lets get on with a peek of the playthings!!

First, feist your eyes on these coral inspired chippies:
Coral B chipboardCoral CCoral A Chipboard

I have used these on the LO below with a generous sprinkling of embossing powder! If you look carefully you may be able to notice that 2 of the corals also come in white paper, I have coloured it here to suit the page, just adds a lovely layer to a cluster of goodies!

This coral piece is one of the pair (coral C) and I have combined it with one of the shell pack pieces from the existing range.
Whilst on the coral theme there is also an awesome stencil! I love how you can create with the positive or negative (they come together in the pack......Awesome!!!) So great to create the underwater feel to your backgrounds, as I have tried to do below with inks and crackle paste by Viva Decor. These stencils are not limited to the beachy theme I can see myself using them in a variety of ways, love products that are versatile!

Coral Stencil

But wait there is more......A Stamp too!!!
I have used it with gold ink on my background.
Coral Stamp

Just a few close Ups before I reveal the whole thing!

And here is the finished page:

Scrap FX have also started selling a limited amount of board to create with in several sizes and weights, so I decided to have a play with these layouts, "Waters Edge" was done on 1.8 and this next one I used the thicker 2.4.
Both worked a treat and did not warp as much as card stock would with the 2.4 coping slightly better with all the mediums I tend to use. I really recommend using the thick board it was fun throwing stuff at it without the worry of warp factor!

I used Coral B on this one and the random dots stencil with a midi and word set title.

See what I mean about a few mediums on the background? Really tested out the board!

Texture paste, ink, paint, embossing powder mesh and micro beads a plenty!

So thats about it for me today, be sure to check back to the Scrap FX blog to see more inspiration and dazzling work from the DT!!
