October Sketch at "Stuck"

Phew!! Got this one in by the skin of my teeth.
Here is the sketch over at Stuck:

And here is my take. Once again looking back through the archives.... no I am not a chronological scrapper! This is my youngest who is now 12!

SORRY
OUT FOR PUBLICATION
WILL BE BACK SOON!

I used the hexagonal chippie as a background stencil and hated what I did (I knew I was going to have one of those days!!!!). Then I smeared a bit of Gesso, and used embossing powder on it to get some texture, and yet I was still not out of the woods! I could see the sketch disappearing before my eyes!!!

I gave the wordlet a coat of paint then outlined it with a marker.

The arrows are from the Scrap FX arrow border, all cut up, they were actually left over from another page. Love it when I use up all my scraps!
Still did not like the embossing, so used some small punchinella and white paint to add to lessen the "blob" effect (if you know what I mean).

Just had to add some more PP chevrons because they make me happy!!!

Trying to show you the metallic finish of the embossing powder.

The page then needed a little more red so the spinners were just perfect for the job after I tried every other embellishment I had in my stash.... I was starting to get a little frustrated, and was happy to see the end of this one I gotta say and I am still not too sure about it!
Anyway my job here is done, thanks for stopping by on your Bloggy travels hope to see you back again soon!!!

Scrap the Boys October Challenge

Over at Scrap the Boys for this month the challenge is to scrap favourite book. I had to go way back to get the photo I wanted, this is my eldest son who has just turned 15!

My favourite photo!
The wordlet was just perfect for the theme and I customized it by using ordinary markers to give some colour.

I  used up random alphas that were lying about as embellishments.
A very simple page using lots of scraps in my stash, the added bonus is that this did not take long to complete either.
Thank you so much for dropping by,

Scrap Friends Sketch No 6

Ok, just finished my take on Sketch #6 over at Scrap Friends. Just got it done in time!
October has been a killer month of  "Life" mayhem so failed to get too much done. Even this post is going to have to be a quickie!!!! So without further ado here is the cool sketch:

And here is my take on it.... my crazy man child!!!

Used a variety of Scrap FX chippies and also their super cool chevron stencil!
Scrap FX chippies feature highly, and Sawyers Place tapes make up the rest of the embellishments.

The title here is a newbie in the Scrap FX range, just love the Font!
I experimented with the stencil, lightly spraying, then outlining with a fineliner to add a little definition. I further "grunged" up the background by randomly stamping and spraying over an alpha stencil.

Cannot go past the mini retro flowers as an embellishment,
and as if to proove I do not throw anything away,
the circles are the "Holes" that pop out of the centers
of the other variety of retro flowers in the pack (if you know what I mean).
I used black Perfect Pearls, to randomly add dots to the page and a cream colour to the centers of the flowers.

Could not resist adding a few PP chevron cut outs, with a bit of doodling for further grunge!

A closer look at that perfect title for my child with personality to spare!!!!

Found it hard to quit with my fineliner once I got started!

An oldie, but definately a goodie, when it comes to the underline flourish chippie!
Well this started out being a quickie post but once again cannot help myself with the chatting thing! Enough already!!!! Gotta go need to dash to the supermarket in order to feed the ravenous ones!

Regards to all & thanks for stopping by,

Kraft it Up October Challenge

A quick share of my take on the challenge over at KIU. It is Misting month!
As you may know, I am a bit of a misting addict so had to get onto this one.
So here is my "grungy" effort:

Now, I don't really do many "event" pages, as I do struggle with themes, but I was inspired to capture my sons' Premiership win, by the talented Sharryn over at the Scrap FX DT.
She made a great page that was cricket inspired, so I thought how hard can it be??
The 2012 is a new Scrap FX alpha.
The title and the cup are new releases too, just love the mix of fonts in that Wordlet.
I could not cope with the team colours of Royal Purple and Gold so I treated it a little like a  Grunge journal background that I had been doing previously on a few cards (see prior post).
The stencil background is a Crafters workshop one called Mayan Calendar, and believe it or not that colour is a little "purpley", a colour that I really avoid for some reason, I call it my Kryptonite!

As a token gesture I did add the yellow banners, hey, it is almost Gold!

You can see some Washi Tape here too from Sawyers Place.
Could not resist splashing paint around to just add to the "look", and my first real junior football page was done!
Hope you all have a nice day!

Busy Birthday Month

Wow! What a busy month we have been having..... it seems every weekend there is a birthday happening. All I have been doing is making cards and then neglecting everything else..... so I thought I would share what I have been doing before giving them away.
I always forget to take shots of the cards I make, so must remember to do that.
Here are 2 that I did not forget.

The first is a Baby Girl card, which I do find hard because well I am just not that girlie and my style (if I had one) is not that pretty!

I used an embossing folder to add some dimension to the pink card stock, then some scraps from that endless stash of mine, to create a simple background. I tend to stick to very simple designs for my cards as I am usually in a hurry to get them done in time to give!

The Baby Carriage is from Scrap FX in a baby accessory pack.
I painted up the carriage, then drew in some details with a pen and finally added some pearls to make it a little bit "Special". Lastly the stamped sentiments are mounted with some foam tape to make them pop!

Now for the next card.... for a Teenage Boy.
Yes my eldest turned 15 this month Arrgh! But that is another story.
I know a lot of people struggle with the whole teen thing, and I know they are not into cards, but I do persist!!
All his mates get the same treatment and I do cop some grief, but as I said, I am persistant and I know each one I have given has been kept!!!

When faced with a teen card, I treat it like a journal page background, then customize as I go. If I am giving $$$ or a Voucher I often make a pocket somewhere on the card as well.

Gotta Love the Lanky Apha from Scrap FX!!
I started this BG by misting a stencil from Crafters Warehouse, then randomly stamping with BG stamps from Studio Calico and Stampendous. I then used an Alphabet stencil with a black paint dauber to add the letters, grunged up the chippy alphas and I was done!

I think he liked it, but I am sure he found what the card was attached to far more appealing!!!!

That's it from me for now, I am going to try to get back to my long neglected journal.... it is gathering dust under a pile of scrap papers!!!
Stay Happy!!!
