October 1st Sketch over at STUCK?!

Just had enough light to get these photos of my take on the October 1st sketch at STUCK?!

A very dull and dreary day here nothing for it but to scrap..... yay.....! Apologies for the dark photos the weather was not being kind!

So here is my take, sort of stuck to the sketch but I just cannot seem to do white space too well!

Yep my nieces again getting lots of value from this set of photos, my girlie fix!

Used a stencil from Prima and cut out the centers of 2 doilies to make a mask and a Martha Stewart punch formed the third mask.
Lots of misting, could not make up my mind on the main colour as the photo was kinda' dark. Got Mums daisy thingy out again, just love doing them, almost makes me want to try my hand at something a little more difficult for that homemade look. Perhaps a bit of crochet????

The alphas and frame "bits" are from ScrapFX and are actually two border pieces I matched up. They do have an awesome frame to go with these pieces but it was a little big for the photo.

And lastly a little tear for a bit of a cluster and I am done
I hope everyone has a great weekend,
Thanx so much for dropping by!!!!

123 Challenge for October

Just a quick post, a little time poor at the moment. My take on the October Challenge over at 123. The requirements were:

Colour: Gold
Word: You
Technique: Leather/suede and Lace

And this is my take:

This is my brother Brad all "growed" up (see last post)  and my sister in law Kelley who live in a land far far away! Hence the Title of this Page, we miss them and wish they would come to their senses and move here!!!!

I started by throwing some gold and bronze paint around.

The sequin flowers are off a headband I pulled apart and the Chipboard is from ScrapFX that was a large flourish that I cut to bits!

The Alphas are also ScrapFX and I used the leather lace to create the loops under the flowers.

Strips of paper, sequins that fell off the headband when I attacked it and a good spray of Glimmer mist finished off the page.

Ok my job here is done for now see you again soon!!!

Oh before I do leave, a bit of a reminder of my little challenge with a big prize!
Check it out under ScrapFX Challenge! Gotta be in it to win it!!!

WW1 October Challenge

Wow!!! hasn't the year just flown? October already sooo close to Christmas and the mayhem that the season brings! Stll I did find the time to create a little something for the WW1 challenge.

The requirements were Black & Paint/mists.

I thought it was outside my comfort zone so gave it a shot with a photo that my Mum found a while ago of my brother and I. It is kind of special as my bro' lives far far  away (in USA) I do not get to see him too much. The photo really reminded me of how much fun we had as kids on picnics out in the bush. Enough already!!! on with the LO.

I started out with white Gesso smeared on the background, then mixed texture paste with black paint to apply the stencil. This, turned out  really "harsh" so ended up spraying it with some white mist to soften the look.
Then added the tissue paper with a glue stick, moulding it into the shape I wanted, really did not know what I was doing at this stage just slapping bits and pieces everywhere!

Then I got to work on the little clusters of embellishments, namely buttons and string, (of which I do have more than I care to admit)!

I found I wanted to say too much for the space I'd set for the journalling so made a small tag with stuff I couldn't fit on (I was getting a little sentimental and Gooey so no one needs to witness that) and tucked it in behind the photo as a pull out.

Made a few flowers, with tissue tape and string. Mum gave me this  really cool daisy maker thingy she has had for years ( I remember making these as a kid) you are meant to join the daisies together to make a shawl or baby jacket but just thinking about that sent me a little "Ga Ga"! Can you imagine joining all those petals together ????.... Sorry.... off on a tangent again!

I just grunged up the chipboard with white paint, did not really want it to stand out just wanted a  blended look overall. (All the chipboard is from  ScrapFX).

And that is the story of the page. See you all next time and thanks for dropping by!
