Last Diva project: Off the page!

Hello one and all!
Back again with the last project of my Diva entry, and my favourite. Really like how quickly and easily this one came together. It is made from a Scrap FX Shadow box kit that are easy peesy to put together and because it comes in pieces you can decorate as you go so you can get to all the nooks and cranies! This piece has a Finnabair feel to it, just loved the workshop I did earlier this year with her, it really opened my eyes to so many more possibilities, for that I truly thank her!

Loads of Chippies here and metal bits and pieces too and you may even find a touch of lace as well.

The main character here is a Scrap FX steampunk owl that I added more gears to and the flourishes from his wings punch out so I used them for his "eyebrows" so cute!!

The words inside are little chippies that I painted to look like metal. The clustered corners are combinations of all the metal and chipboard bits and pieces I found in my stash.

I really threw a heap of paint and mist on this project really wanted it to be rich and shimmery. Then I highlighted with the rich gold so they would pop out so to speak!
So that was that little show and tell, the beginning of my Diva Journey!

Diva Project 2!

Time for reveal number 2, the second layout!
This one is of my eldest, Kodey:

Just love getting all grungy with the border punches around the edges of the page!
Used a bunch of stencils and stamps on the background with gesso, mists and sprays. Then clustered my chippies after hitting them with mica paints!

 All the chippies are Scrap FX, used a lot of old favourites and just love that title!

When you add metal bits and pieces to chipboard it just .... well ....works!










And that is that, stay tuned for my final project for the Divas, an off the page creation!! Lots of fun doing that one!!

Design Diva!!!!

Hi All
Now that the news is well and truly out, that I have joined an overwhelmingly talented group of ladies as a Design Diva at Scrapbook Creations, over the next few days I thought I would show detailed shots of the projects that got me into this whirlwind of creativity!! (So to speak)

The first LO had to feature me...... made me a little uncomfortable to say the least:

As you can see I got down and dirty rather than deep and meaningful!!! Tried hard to hide the face .. LOL
To make the circles I used mist and home made stencils, (fancy name for a circle punched out of a scrap piece of cardboard) in varying sizes. Then I just doodled around them with my paint marker!

I used Scrap FX Paris Alphas for the title and threw some paint and ink on them. Trurhfully, I left this LO till the last minute, so had to really rush and get it done as the deadline loomed! As a result this is my least favourite of the 3 Diva entry projects.
I almost did not enter because of this requirement.... funny how little things really throw you, the photo of myself certainly did!!

Resorted to using old faithful embellishments, spinners and cogs, they just work for me, and paired with the scribble frame that I cut to fit it just suited the mess!

A few dimensional dots and words and I was closer to the finish line!














So that is the story of the first LO, it was definitely the toughest task!
Next I will show the "other" LO and then soon after the "off the page" task!

I have been a little busy!!

The beginning of a new month already. Phew I am actually relieved October is over, it is a very busy one for this family, hence I only made a few posts. So what about November???
Well first up I have been playing with some new Scrap FX goodies. I am falling in love with the stencils and now their stamps as well???
This first page I used the random dots stencil which seems to be a "go to" one for me, the new Kraft paper trees, mini swallows and a new Elm leaf stamp.

but then I got my hands on the Elm leaf stamp and teeny swallows (there are 10 in a pack!) and it all just seemed to come together!

Now on to the next page where I used an awesome new stencil that is super funky called "Squares and circles"

Yeah baby I loved this one, I admit I did go a little crazy with this one on the background!

I also used a mini lock with the old fave.... hash tag corner isn't it just too cute?? And those words are new too I have just given them the embossing powder treatment!

The mini lock is part of a set that are so darn cute how could I resist??

The words are from this pack but there are more check the web site, they are the perfect size for all you brave project lifers out there, but they work well as a title or even part of the  journalling on the page!

Last one I promise! I have a bit of a thing for pelicans and find myself taking photos of them alot as they seem to pose perfectly for just the right shot! So I thought Why not actually use one of those photos on a page??? So here 'tis!

Once again I went overboard on the background but hey that is the way I roll it seems!!

I used the new Moroccan Tile stencil, I have the matching stamp too but haven't used it yet!

Those sweet swallows feature once again!

I also used some oldies from my stash, about time I used them up!

Yes! I Scrapped a boy!

Wow October is such a busy month here but I did manage to squeeze in a challenge over at 

Scrap The Boys! Now how on earth could I resist when the requirement is the colour combo of Blue and Green????? All you regular readers know it really is my "go to" combo and I can whip them up in no time flat without really thinking!

So here is what I ended up with: 

Love all those chippies from Scrap FX and the new release navy washi tape from Sawyers Place.

 The mini biplanes are just so cute and are perfect for that masculine touch. I combined them here with the Graphic circles that suit just about anything really.

 The New Adventures wordlet is a great versatile title. I tried to get a crackle effect in the background by cheating, not using a crackle paste at all because I hate waiting for it to dry...... very impatient!!!

So the texture was created with a thick gesso layer, then I used a crackle roller by clearsnap and just rolled away and your crackle surface is done and dries in minutes not hours! I thank my fellow DT member for Scrap FX, Adrienne Ford for the idea she has a great Blog and shares all her techniques for her inspirational pages check her out here:Adriennes' Blog

 

 So that is all from me for the month of October so far, do not know when I shall be back as this is a huge month for birthdays in our family so it keeps us all very busy, but happy busy, if you know what I mean.

October Scrap FX Fun!

A new month and a new release of goodies! So what have have I been playing with this month???

 Well October  is all about the boys!

But I have been playing with just a few and thought I would give you a peek.

These are the stamps that totally got my head a spinning with ideas to try.

I know too cool right?

I am just loving the versatility of these gems, you can use any medium on them for many different looks. Then you just put them under the tap for a good clean ready to use again.

So I was determined to really test these babies out this month and use them in a totally different way.
Here is the first page I did playing with the clock face stamp. I used an embossing folder and gesso to create a textured background, then added mists to highlight it. You can sort of see it here in this shot, but it is hard to see in a photo.... sorry everyone.

Then I inked up the foam stamp and stamped away to add to the background over the textured 

 Gesso.... it worked a treat because the foam is so flexible I guess!

I combined lots of patterned paper scrap here and also some Sawyers Place sticky paper.

You can also see another new product on this page, that awesome wordlet. 

Love the mix of fonts in this one. 

Now to the second page. I used the Crafters workshop feathers stencil with texture paste to add the depth then sprayed mists to add colour and "drippage".

This time I played with the cog stamp and ink, repeatedly stamping, to add a shadow effect to the background. I even stamped over the top of the texture paste!!

I added some splotches of gold Lindys' Stamp Gang embossing powder randomly across the background because it just needed "something" to make it pop!

And of course my fave ingredient that all my regular readers would know..... cogs a plenty!!

My little Fella's grade 6 Graduation photo, frome last year see how far behind I am? Sooo not an organized chronological scrapper!

I think you get the idea that I just love using the foam stamps as they appear on all the pages I did for this release!

The next page was a bit of an experiment with Golden Light Molding Paste. I must say I did not know what to expect but now I have to say I am a convert! Love how thick and light it is and when it is dry the page does not curl up as much as the heavier varieties, gotta love that right? And look at all that textural goodness!!

So how did I do this? I may just do a tutorial on this one if everyone is up for it, because it was soo fun and I love the result! But just a hint that I am sure you savvy folk have guessed already I used that awesome cog stamp again!!!!

And how totally cute are those teeny planes??? I have to say I really love how this page turned out! And I am usually the harshest critic of my own work!

How cute is that frame????
